Birnam and Dunkeld's best-kept secret

The Merryburn is but a few minutes' walk from Dunkeld and Birnam railway station at the gateway to the Highlands, and is a listed Victorian building.

Our five beautifully appointed rooms are available for individual or party bookings, and children and dogs are most welcome. If you are planning a holiday, night away, romantic break or family gathering, this is the ideal spot.

Birnam and Dunkeld are situated on opposite banks of the river Tay, renowned for its salmon and trout fishing. You'll also find an abundance of golf courses and some stunning walks, many of which begin at nearby Birnam Glen. Follow one of the shorter circular walks or take in the waterfalls at the 18th century Hermitage folly.

Birnam is well known as being home to the last remaining oak tree from Shakespeare's 'Scottish play', as well as the Birnam Arts and Conference Centre, but did you know that within a 30 mile drive you'll find Edradour, Scotland's smallest malt whisky distillery, castles Glamis and Blair, Schiehallion – one of the most challenging munros, Gleneagles, Perth race course, the list goes on...

The Merryburn is your ideal base wherever you choose to travel in the heart of Perthshire.

The secret is out.
